Just like that the Holidays are upon us! We are so proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2016 at Fox Run Stables and are eager to see what doors 2017 will open for us. With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season keeping us all pretty busy, we wanted to update our fantastic friends and family on what is going on now and what we are planning in the future!
We will be having a Christmas Part on Monday, December 19th at 3:00PM. Bring a friend and your riding boots- there will be games, riding time, and cookies for all of our guests. We will be having a small gift exchange, so bring a gift to share with your pony pals but stick around a $10 budget. There will also be a drawing for a FREE ONE MONTH LEASE of a Fox Run Pony/Horse!
Don't scramble for last minute Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers, we have great items you can snag for the horse lover in the family. You can purchase Gift Certificates for riding lessons with our CHA Certified instructors, youth helmets, and some adorable hoodies and jackets for sale at the barn. Give the gift of riding or fun pony apparel this season.
As the cooler weather moves our way, we want to remind our riders that when temperatures hit 30 or below, lessons can be a bit more difficult. We are willing to provide lessons in our indoor arena in these conditions, but be sure to dress warm! Coats, gloves, and warm breeches will help make the lesson more comfortable for all.
On the topic of winter weather, it's time to talk blanketing! If your horse is showing or being ridden indoors multiple times a week for an hour or more, we highly encourage you to invest in a blanket for your four legged friend. Cassie is more than happy to recommend some great brands and assist you in measuring your horse or pony for a perfect fit. If your horse is not being ridden regularly, blankets are not a necessity. Fun fact of the day- horses are able to keep themselves warm in winter thanks tot he under layer in their coat. When they are chilled, the top layer stands, trapping air in the under layer which their body then heats up to keep themselves warm. This natural 'insulation' each horse has also helps waterproof them in case of rain or snow. When horses are ridden frequently with all that extra winter hair, however, the sweat gets trapped in their fur which doesn't allow the hair to stand up on its own and the horse then gets chilly- thus calling the need for a blanket to help heat them back up!
We are working on arranging our Spring Show Season schedule and hope to release that early next year as show dates are posted. We cannot wait to take our riders around and showcase all that they have worked on. There is the possibility of Fox Run hosting our own schooling shows in 2017- but volunteers would be needed! Moms and dads, let Tricia or Cassie know if you would be willing to help run a concession stand or work the registration table. It takes a village!
Fox Run will be open for winter fun all month except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so give us a call and join our fun filled family here at the barn. If you are looking for an exciting and educational environment to learn in OR a safe and state of the art facility to board your horse at then look no further! We wish all of our students, boarders, and their families the merriest of Christmases and a happy New Year. Thank you for making 2016 a blast!
